Introduction

Immunizing on schedule as recommended by Health Canada ensures your child is protected from serious vaccine-preventable diseases. As long as your child has a valid Alberta Health Care card, he/she is covered for the routine immunizations given at AHS designated public health clinics. See below for Routine Immunization Schedule set out by Alberta Health.

However, when you are traveling with your child, his/her routine vaccine schedule might need to be adjusted to ensure your child is fully protected before departing. In addition, there are  vaccines that are recommended for traveling to certain destinations but might not be routinely done in Canada. In that case, you will need to bring your child to a travel health clinic to obtain these vaccines.

What we do here at 101 Pharmacy

We offer travel health consultation for adults as well as for individuals traveling with young children.  Our pharmacists will provide travel health information pertaining to your destination(s) at the appointment. In most cases, we are able to give the injections during the same appointment. However, for children under 5 years of age, we will refer them to our registered nurse on site and she will provide the vaccinations for your child.

Our registered nurse is only available on selected days on the weekend. If you are traveling with children under 5 years old, please inform us when you are booking an appointment for the travel consultation.
